Delicious surprise in the modest but busy and charming place overlooking the Canal. Food came out so quickly and a simple menu. Both the asparagus wrapped in Pollack and the beef stew were both superb.. Great coffee, flavorful salad bar and cookies completed the deal. Extraordinary value, and obviously a big favorite of locals. An authentic experience to be had in central Sweden.

Maybe I was just unlucky, but the steak did not taste like I would expect a steak in that price range to taste. Something seemed off with the seasoning and the meat itself was not very tender.nService was good though and the location is nice.nI finished my meal but I left unsatisfied and disappointed.

Location is everything.nApart from great lunches the fare is just one step up from your ordinary pub grub, with some good looking items on the à la carte.nnIt is primarily the ample outdoor seating that has made me come back on numerous occasions. Beer selection is rather poor compared to some next door neighbors, but then again this is really more of a lunch place than your evening spot.

Heading back Stockholm so we passed by Söderköping to have late lunch for my birthday. Bakfickan was conveniently near the parking lot so decided to eat there. Big mistake! If you happen to have brown skin, the waitresses practically ignore you even if you happen to be the only customer inside was there past 3pm. The first one saw me but went to the toilet, then another waitress I called did approach our table but ONLY after she cleaned & tidied other tables. So we had to wait. The worse was when our order came and my son was so excited talking I didn't hear the waitress ask us a question. Then she shouted at us. Very rude old lady. The only person who was nice was the lady at the cashier, who asked whether we liked the food. Probably cause I was paying. Overall, food was fine but service sucks! Plenty of other restaurants in the area to try.
