This is a historically very interesting place. In the Viking Age there was a so-called trelleborg here, that is, a round settlement surrounded by a round fortification. In the 9th century, Harald Bluetooth built a wooden church next to the trelleborg. It was replaced around 1200 by a stone church that was demolished in 1871 to make way for the current church.
Borgeby church is a church building by Lödde å in Borgeby parish. It belongs to Bjärred parish, formerly Borgeby parish, in Lund diocese. The church building The church was originally built around the year 1200. Then the church tower and the western part of the nave were built. In 1871 most of the old church was demolished. Then the nave was extended to the east and the church got its current three-sided chancel. The tower was given an upper part with double round-arch windows that open when the bell rings. A fire broke out on March 28, 1915. The tower and the church bell fell and punched a hole in the loft above the armory. The nave's entire truss and the joists in the tower were destroyed. While the repairs were going on, high mass was held in Löddeköpinge church. Borgeby then belonged to Löddeköpinge until 1973. In 1987, an extensive renovation of the church was carried out, when, among other things, the pews were repainted and the church was newly whitewashed. The church is enclosed by hedges and masonry. Previously, the church was connected to Borgeby Castle with a wall. A tunnel has also been found between the castle and the church.
A beautiful little church from the 12th century. Located on a hill by the Kävlingeån.
Nice old medieval church. However, in need of renovation. This is underway.
Nice architecture & lovely emergency when the organ is played.
