We visited the Cosmonova recently. We expected to watch many exciting real films and pictures from galaxies, stars and planets, as expected from the title. Unfortunately, it was too short and more than half of it was spent on introducing the GamesWeb telescope and interviewing people. They used also animations.nSo the real pictures took just a few minutes and their quality was not very good.nWe had already watched much better movies on Youtube.nCosmonova looks good but is not developed technologically, compared with several years ago. It can, however be interesting for people, who had no such experience before.
Total Disaster!nI was at Cosmonova 25 years ago... As I kid, I remember how impressed I was. WOW, what an experience. Now, I wanted to pass that experience on... It didn't go as planned...nnTo begin with, the picture quality was very low. If you’re going to have a screen that is 25 meters wide, the resolution has to be at least 8K—maybe even higher. As it was, most of the image was blurry for long stretches and never truly sharp.nnI understand that the screen is round, but I’ve been to similar places where the film was adapted to the screen it was shown on. Here, everything along the sides… tree trunks weren’t straight but curved. That might be okay for children, but not for adults—and not in 2025. If you’re going to show a film on your fantastic screen, it simply has to be made for that format.nnA third problem was that the seating was far too close to the stage itself. It just felt wrong. Again, it’s cool to have a big screen, but if the only thing I can see is a blurry dinosaur head, then the point of having a big screen is lost.nnYou have a fantastic opportunity to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience—if you set the right conditions for it. The film we saw today about the T-Rex, I could just as well have watched on my phone. To create a life-changing experience, you need a film that maximizes the potential of your screen and setup. Excavations in the U.S. are nothing special. They don’t require special effects that visitors couldn’t get on their phones.nnWe paid 550 SEK 3 adults and 1 teenager for a 20-minute experience. For that amount of money, the delivery has to be world-class; a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Unfortunately, today’s show wasn’t that. Sadly, it didn’t even pass as acceptable.nnMy recommendation... DON*T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE! Keep away from Comonova...
