For every edition the biennial has grown and it offers visitors, as well as the art scene, an art experience of highest international quality. GIBCA was held for the first time in 2001 and the main organizer is the city of Göteborg’s Culture Council (Sw. Göteborgs Stads kulturnämnd). Röda Sten Konsthall has been arranging it since 2006.
