There are never any daisies growing in the garden across the road, but there is a thicket of rhododendrons that almost hides the house. For a few weeks in May, it blooms in all imaginable colors. On the first real summer night every year, it blooms in unimaginable colors. Everything around suddenly seems paler. Still the morning after, it is as if the garden were covered with a thin gray film. If the bus is delayed that morning, it is better to take the car instead.
