Did not have time to visit my first time on Gotland, am I glad that I visited this time. It’s a really nice place, worth the visit, I just wish ticket price was a bit cheaper.nnOverall nice experience and cafe in the museum was very busy and had a really good food.
İt's a nice and informative look into the island's history. Picture stones are particularly impressive. For s small museum it holds it ground and keeps you interested. Only 110 Kronos for students.
Back at Cafe Amalia at Gotland Museum. Both for the Museum and the cafe's saffron pancake.nnI had it the last time we were here and brought 3 pcs for takeaway last month. I wonder if the reason their saffron pancake is different is because of the size of the cut of the almonds and the kind of berry jam. Still, you have to try their saffron pancake. I love the outdoor seating area which is within Gotland Museum.
Well sorted exhibition that takes you through the history and geology of Gotland and Visby.nYou will find there a great collection of pictures and carved medieval stones. History is brought to life by personalising stories. The stories are told by historic people, assumed or real, from their perspective. There is also a treasury displaying coins and jewellery found on the island.
This is an extremely well done historical and archaeological museum. It doesn’t seem large from the outside, but it seems to go on forever when you’re inside in a good way. The exhibits give a sense of what life was like in Visby from the mists of prehistory through the Middle Ages and beyond. A small but high quality gift shop is a nice addition.
