Team HiGtech is an independent projectgroup at the University of Gävle building energy efficient vehicles and compete with them in various competitions.
Team HiGtech is included in the Shell Eco-Marathon Group and the team currently consists of about 20 aspiring mechanical engineers.
The project took off in the spring of 2012, when Fredrik Mickelsson got in contact with Anders Johansson, PhD student at Chalmers University of Technology, during a competition in energy efficient rail vehicles. Later during the autumn started a project group with teachers and students in the Academy of Engineering and the Environment at the University of Gävle. The team is in the current state divided into three main groups, engine and drivetrain, body and chassis and then we have two sub-groups that develop wheels and an engine bench
The team's goal of the competition is primarily just to participate and use the knowledge we gain on the different courses we read at the university, but aim to become one of the top teams in the competition within five years.
