Me and my friend stayed for one night and it was a lovely experience. The hotel and cute and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious with homemade bread, jam, etc. They even had bikes to lend us, big plus!
We were a couple of families staying over night at Kastanjelund. It is a very lovely and cozy place. Once we entered our room it was clean, towels were fluffy and generally everything was in good order.nThe one room for improvement I will say was that it did not seem a kid-friendly place. We were a couple of families with two children under age of 4. The adults were served a tasty 3-course meal + a little extra entré while our children got homemade meatballs and potatoes. We had to ask for entrés and an improvised desert, as well as cutlery for the kids. This really rubbed me the wrong way and unfortunately marred the experience that would otherwise be a rather positive one.
Very charming little family run hotel. The rooms where quite cosy and clean, with a small bathroom.nThe food was great, the menu option offered lots of variety in taste and textures. It did get very warm during eating, but we could take a short break and wander the garden and the table was quite cluttered with all of the cutlery and glasses one can imagine. The serves was extremely kind and also cleaned up the table after asking.
Went for dinner on a Friday evening, company of three.nnLovely interior, rustic, genuine, south Sweden style and great service and presentation from the staff - all in all a brilliant experience and atmosphere.nnGood menu with a lot of local produce and some good wine pairings - nothing out of the ordinary wine wise but good solid choices for a high quality, robust dining experience.nnThe food was great and felt like decent value - just the right level of casual, homely, relaxed and serious. Tasteful and intelligent presentations on old traditional plates - this place hasn't forgotten its roots which is brilliant.nnDishes were good, yet perhaps too complicated. I wish some of the dishes would have been scaled back to really let the local produce do the talking. Most dishes felt too complex for my taste, e.g. like an attempt to do a starter with yuzu, dashi, bonito, local ebi in a Japanese inspired way — a bombardment of flavours and combined in a rather odd way if it was meant to be Japan inspired. For most dishes, fewer ingredients would have likely made it even better.nnHighly recommended if you want a nice, semi casual evening in a lovely environment with great local produce!
We can confirm the rave reviews the Nordals are getting for their gourmet inn. We went for the full monty with a 6-course dinner and wine pairing - we could not have been happier. We were specially delighted that the wines included surprises, for instance a Mendocino Pinot Noir paired perfectly with the richly flavored fish dish.nnAs for breakfast, we had to be careful not to gorge on those freshly baked goodies! We also enjoyed a taste of the cheeses and preserved meats from local producers. That garlic salami, wow!!nnOur weekend was in a superior room that was clean comfortable and fresh. We enjoyed the visit very much!
