This museum tells the tales of maritime pirates, merchants, political history, and commercial ventures. The collection of ship reproductions from ships in a bottle to huge ships is impressive. Several auditory exhibits highlight the visual displays. We learned about governmental pirates, pirates, famous navigators and battles won and lost. We saw items recovered from shipsnThe basement offers an aquarium with several displays of fish, small sharks, and living reefsnThe museum has at least one auditorium and meeting space for their special events and presentations. The tasteful gift shop offers children's and adult books about the sea and history, and a few beautiful nature fabric clothing itemsnThe front grounds are a refreshing place to relaxnReasonably priced for students and children: free. Adults about $10
Great maritime museum covering the history of Swedish maritime, especially in Gothenburg.nnDisplays included rare old video from the early 1900’s, which was fascinating.nnThe ship models were wonderful also.nnAquarium had some of the best coral reefs we’ve seen in a while.nnFashion exhibition was excellent!!
A lot of cool outfits and ships during the current exhibition at Sjöfartsmuseet. Some fun things for the kids but my kids have too much energy for this place. The moving ship was a favorite. But it feels safe for them to run around and play in the kids area. The Aquarium is a small but beautiful place and a lot of both interesting and fun facts.
Recommended. There's an aquarium in the basement, activities for children, Pretty nice and accurate ship models. Strollers have to be left outside the building, as it is a safe place, feel free to leave them. The cafeteria has good food, not cheap, but delicious. They even had soup there :9
It’s got all this cool stuff—old ships, stories about captains, everything. It’s really fun to walk around. They even have a little aquarium , which was a nice surprise and great for the kids.nnThere's a cafe if you need a break, and we found parking nearby, no problem. Honestly, the best part was the special 'Oceanista' fashion exhibit they had. The whole vibe was just amazing!
