Addition: I received an email from the principal thanking me for my feedback, and we wrote a little about how this feedback should be communicated better and earlier. The principal also wrote that certain measures to improve the jazz line have already been taken, so I hope it has already become better for new jazz students!nnI have been at the school for a year on the jazz line, and the reason for the low grade is mainly directed at the structure of the jazz line. There are also good aspects about the school, the first paragraph more about the school in general and the second about the jazz line.nnThe school itself is fresh and nice premises, it is clean and tidy, cleaned several times a week and the standard of the dormitories is good. There is also a small gym, sauna and sports hall. The lunches are very good, there are always lots of different salads and well-prepared main courses. For us vegetarians & vegans, there are some semi-finished products as an alternative to meat, which I am not a big fan of, but there is always lots of other things from scratch in the salads. The dinners are not as lavish as the lunches, but usually good. In addition to the subjects in your major, you can take some elective courses, and there are many opportunities to sing in different choirs if you like it.nnUnfortunately, the jazz major is not prioritized at all. During the year I have been here, canceled lessons have been more the rule than the exception, of course I understand that this particular year has been unlucky with teachers who have had to be on sick leave for a long time and so on. But otherwise it also feels quite muddy and dull. Some teachers are not invested at all if you are not good enough, both for individuals and ensembles. It feels like there is a thought about structure but how it is carried out is just incredibly sluggish, slow and unclear. It is really a shame that the jazz major, which is one of the largest at the school, is so under-prioritized, it generally feels like the school itself cares most about the church musicians. Many students develop a lot in the jazz major, but it comes from instrument teaching, personal practice and ensemble playing. And if it's from the teachers, it's because people are actively asking and pushing themselves. But there are also good things; the private instrument lessons are what I know everyone is happy with, myself included, and it's quite generous with 50 minutes of private lessons a week in total with main and secondary instruments. But from those I've been with, the consensus is pretty big that the jazz line doesn't feel like a priority, so I hope for the sake of future students that the school does something about it!
Very rude kitchen staff, just ok lunch! Almost no door buttons work so no place for disabled people to visit! At the boarding school the dinner is of a pretty low standard.
Looked like a nice school, was there on 11/9-22 and voted in the election so you do your duty maybe it will be as you want.
Good conference venue, with well-prepared food, nice conference facilities and perfectly ok accommodation.
Good food and nice
