"Portland Institute for Contemporary Art acknowledges and advances new developments in contemporary art while fostering the creative explorations of artists and audiences.PICA’s programming supports the experiments of the most vital and provocative artists of our time. Our vision is international, intergenerational, interdisciplinary, and decidedly forward thinking even when those explorations look back in history. PICA is unique among institutions for working right alongside artists at the increasingly blurry boundaries between forms and at the edge of new ideas."

Nice venue with a good environment for the most part I really like how inclusive it it there.
TBA fest has been awesome, and PICA is a great vessel for art & culture for Portland. I also love the ominous blue LEDs on the ceiling. Looking forward to performing there in the future! <3
PICA presents one of the few great contemporary arts festivals in the world every September. They also do tons of work in our community to build arts engagement for all ages, including offering exposure that Portland artists would never receive without PICA. It is not a "Nice loft style place for art" as some very confused person stated. It is scrappy non-profit with almost no budget that punches above it's weight providing entertainment, enlightenment, engagement, and opportunity to our community.
An unassuming facade doesn't begin to do justice to one of the most important gallery spaces in Portland: the PICA. My first visit to this gallery was emotionally and intellectually challenging. The current installation used every bit of available space from wall to wall, floor to ceiling. As I made my way into, through and around each segment of the various works, I was transported through Portland's prophetic past. That journey gave much needed context to this city's present and revealed the spectors of Portland's future. The PICA is conveniently located very near public transit. Come to the PICA, see something unforgettably real.
You will find great cutting edge exhibits produced by young artists. A lot of installations as well as wall art. Always worth the cost and always challenging your perspective. Cleansing our narrow mindedness.
Whitebird Dance and PICA= great combo. Big open performing space. Perfect viewing. Every seat in the house is wonderful!
if anybody finds their self near Pica I would highly suggest going inside machine the artwork that they have it's like a mausoleum full of different kinds of Lights it's basically a mausoleum of different kinds of art they even have this little area they can go inside that has Mirrors all over the inside of it and I like to call it the Chamber of reflection
I loved the organic art. How everything was recycled materials and how they are gonna recycle all the materials once they are done showing the materials. And the hospitality.
Its always a fun time at this venue, love how many different events it can transform into.
