PM & Vänner

We stayed for a night. The rooms were well kept and tidy with a nice modern feel. The roof top pool was pretty good with a nice view. We ate at the bar upstairs for dinner, the food was very good indeed, we felt the food had very good value. We enjoyed the breakfast allot, it was a classic Swedish hotel breakfast you would expect, but everything was taken up a level with great locally produced items and home made dishes.nnI would strongly recommend.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOMEnIt was totally unforeseen, that I would get my second best gourmet experience ever in the remote provincial town of Växjö in Sweden. I was in Växjö to visit family, and realised the funky fact that Växjö embrace the Michelin star restaurant PM & vänner. It is only Geranium Michelin 3 star in Copenhagen, that was a better experience out of quite a number of visits to Michelin restaurants over the years and in many countries.nPM & vänner served a total of 14 different tastings, bites and small dishes and 7 wines.nAll dishes were absolutely great, very delicious and/or an eminent umami experience.nThe most impressive was the extend of using local supplies, I have never before experienced that this would include locally farmed real sturgeon caviar and locally found truffle. Mind-blowing. That must be the reason why PM & vänner also holds a Michelin green star.nAlso, the wines were exciting. The wines were certainly different from what I had expected, some of them even a bit odd, but a surprising perfect tasting match to the umami of the dishes.nA nice detail was that PM & vänner handed out an exclusive black envelope with the menus when we left.nDuring the complete meal did PM & vänner actually service us well, and we acknowledged with good tips. But that said PM & vänner could certainly strengthen their welcome. We got such a disastrous welcome, that we considered to leave.nBut leaving would have been the real disaster. PM & vänner was awesome value, it is impossible to find such awesome value in any other Michelin restaurant.nI will recommend all foodies to rush to Växjö while PM & vänner is still so reasonably priced. Because if the Michelin guys are fair, PM & vänner will soon get additional stars.nNB! We didn't stay at the hotel.

Review: Mixed Experience at PM & Vänner in Växjö SwedennnWe visited the one-Michelin-star restaurant PM & Vänner in Växjö with high expectations. The kitchen was excellent: the dishes were refined, and a mistake in one of the courses was resolved in a very professional and smooth way. The rest of the staff was friendly and created a pleasant atmosphere.nnHowever, the sommelier was a disappointment. He literally stood behind his wine bottle the entire time with no real interaction. When we suggested he could be a bit more personable, he just joked that he'd have to ask his wife. This really took away from the overall experience and didn’t live up to the Michelin standard.

A beautiful room with modern design with plenty of both natural- and artificial light at a first glance. There were however some impractical and annoying design choices especially in the bathroom.nPM & Vänner does however make up for it with pleasant service and decent shared facilities like pool, sauna and a really tiny gym if the gym isn’t enough they collaborate with a local gym. The staff is very soft spoken and polite, and the included breakfast is one of the better hotel breakfasts I’ve seen.

Having lunch here several times we have never been disappointed. Classy, tasty and good service!nCan also recommend when need to go for business lunch when in Växjö.
