This is the place to be avoided, lack of interest or commitment for patients, they just don't care. I had a major pain in the chest and rib cage, but a major pain that put me in the knees on the street. I live in Sandviken and after 1 week of agony I decide to go to Gavle emergency, Gavle big city, big Hospital, I had big expectation, but the reality is another one. I didn't even entered in the Hospital, a very relax lady ignored me for 30 min, because she was in an important discussions laughting at a cofee with her colleague. She was chewing relaxed a gum completing some paper with all my data, but relaxed, no hurry, the pain was not with her, was with me, even if she works at emergencies. She asked me if I have a car because she booked me in 20 min at Sandviken Hospital because I live in Sandviken. I reached to this hospital where a ''doctor'' came and did a massage to my ribs and gave me a golf ball to massage my ribs at home, prescribed 3 weeks of ibruprofen and send me home. No blood samples, not one Xray, not a test.. nothing, just guessing that one of my nerves is damaged. After 2-3 weeks of intense pain, I lost 10kg so I went to the airport, took the plane home and go to the hospital at emergency. 1 simple blood test that showed an infection, 2 xrays at the head and lungs and the result came. My right lung had 3 liters of ''pleural liquid'', or water in the lungs. They suspected me of Tuberculosis or cancer,. 5 tests showed that I was lucky and the liquid in my lung was from a major pneumonia. I was hospitalised for 1 month, 3 chirurgical intervention, 3 weeks with a drain in my back, 2 months of recovery exercises to inflate back my lung and I was back to normal life. The doctors in Romania told me that if I waited more time I would lose my lung at 38 years old and a life of sport.nI had to fly 2500km to get an Xray and a blood test and a proper treatment.nI don't think that in Sweden, one of the best countries in Europe, in 2024, at Gavle emergency or Sandviken Hospital don't have the technology to make an Xray or to take/analise a blood sample. I think is just a lack of care and responsability from people.nI attached a section with my lungs after one week of treatment and dranage of the liquid.nnFor the doctor that ''treated'' me with the golf ball:nIf you are not motivated or you are not capable to do your job then let someone else to do it instead of you. Your lack of interest and knowlage almost ruined my life at 38 year old, why should I carry an oxigen tank after me?
Hi, this hospital is not open 24/7.nThere is incorrect information on the website.nStood outside the hospital with a severed fingertip around 9pm but the hospital was closed.
Been in Department 70 Several times. Skilled, friendly and knowledgeable staff in rehabilitation. Unfortunately, the county council is trying to save money. So it shows in, for example, the food and no duvet covers for the blankets. But that's not the department's responsibility. When politicians try to save money at the expense of the quality of care.
Newly moved in and this hospital was absolutely fantastic with lovely staff and it's easy to find where you need to go.
