Great take on classic Swedish dining in a beautiful location with really friendly staff. Portions may be on the small side, but worth the price
I decided to take my mother and sister for dinner and was not dissapointed. We were met with wonderful service from the get go and was followed by a feast of flavor. Not only the flavor but the vibrancy of the food left us to enjoy the night thorougly. We would 100% recommend for people wanting to have a great night out!
A gourmet meal. Expensive and worth it. Very fresh and some local stuff. We had the fixed menu- traditional herring app was the best I've had, delicate and not too strongly flavored. The nettle soup was unusual and delicious. The lamb and lake whitefish main courses were both delicious - can't decide which was better. Homemade rhubarb crumble and ice cream were perfect. Just don't order the wine pairing menu - for 300SEK I got 2 glasses of white wine with my meal which wasn't worth it. But I was so happy with the food I didn't care. Also great location on the waterfront!
Fantastic food at the shores of Vänern in Mariestad. Take the fisk.. or the meat.. or the dessert... It is all great!!
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We showed up on a Wednesday evening, it was packed and service was obviously slow. They told us we could wait at the bar, that there were a couple people ahead of us. Another party of our same size showed up after us, but the moment a table was available, the hostess sat them first. When we asked her what happened, she told us that the other party had made it to the bar faster than us and therefore deserved to be seated before us.nThen when another table opened, we tried to go to the table. The hostess stopped us and said she was giving the table to a party of elder folks who had showed up much later than us because it was in the shade and we needed to wait for her to decide when we should sit.nThe hostess was obviously racist against non-blonde Swedes, as my husband looks Turkish and I am not blonde and also don’t look Swedish.nWe got fed up with the bad attitude and what was obviously going to be a slow, disappointing and expensive dinner and left, and had an amazing meal at the stands nearby for a quarter of the price.
