SlottsholmennnVastervik, SwedennVery kind staff .Heating a health hazardnFebruary 2025nI spent four days at Slottsholmen when hubby was having an op down the road .nThe staff and hotell very pleasant as always .nI was given a room on the annexe on the water .Nicely furnished BUT cold and the Made in Indian heating controls did not work .At 2 am I was freezing cold with a strong curent blowing in my face and humidity at 93 which is DANGEROUS so I rang 112 for advice and they said LEAVE THE ROOM .i moved to sit in the corridor .I rang reception but they close at kl 22 and the call went through to a very rude Securitas person who could not help nowhere near Vastervik .nI rang all the managers who had phones but all were switched off except the very kind food manager who came at 3am .nI find it very ODD that no one from the hotel stays on the premises .It was a Monday and I believed I was on my own in this big hotel which scared me .nI only had breakfasts which was ok but everyone knows that most hotels around here are trying to recuperate post covid and are buying in cheap food .Cereals ,bread all Lidl standard .nI had no issues with the staff I met.. all very kind .nIf the hotell wants to be full they need to sort the heating out and have individual room heaters and better food quality
We had a lovely 1-night stay and we will definitely be back! There’s some phenomenal bouldering nearby and this was a lovely place to come back to after a day of being in nature. The rooms are comfortable with fab views. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant of nettle soup, duck and some lovely wine. Breakfast was brilliant with lovely homemade breads and homemade granola with a ginger shot. The restaurant staff were all very friendly and special thanks to Martin who was so cheery and welcoming at the reception. Looking forward to coming back soon.
We had dinner here and it was a great success, even if I was given cod instead of the perch I ordered. Everyone else was opting for the cod, so it was probably a stroke of luck. My wife went bruschetta plus chicken, while I went for ‘Anna’s Choice’ - a three-course option, which was very acceptable.
This was an overall delightful experience. The hotel's location is excellent, and my stay was made even more memorable by the captivating views from my ground-floor room, which opened up to a charming balcony facing the waters. The views were simply breathtaking, calming and relaxing.nnThe comfort of the room was well-thought, with a comfortable bed that provided a restful night's sleep. The bedsheets were crisp and fresh, enhancing the feeling of luxury and cleanliness. The shower offered a refreshing experience.nnHowever, there was one minor drawback. The air conditioning in the room seemed to blow in a fair amount of fine dust, which was a bit inconvenient and could be improved upon.nnThe hotel itself is a thing of beauty, exuding an elegant and pleasant atmosphere. The tasteful decor and thoughtful design elements added to the overall ambiance, creating a welcoming and relaxing environment.nnBreakfast here was a treat. The delicious spread and home-baked breads offered a variety of options, catering to different tastes, and ensured a delightful start to each day.nnDinner was also pleasing. The Swedish meatballs with boiled potatoes and lingonberries sauce tasted wholesome and old-fashioned.nnBut what truly sets this hotel apart is its exceptional staff. The staff is friendly, attentive, and goes above and beyond to provide outstanding service. Their warm hospitality made me feel welcomed from the onset.
Love this place. Room was at the second floor at the very end. View was magnificent. It is a floating hotel kind of concept. When you wake up in the morning, you would be greeted by misty crisp air, with geese leisurely swim close to the jetty.nnOn my last day, i woke up to find out that i was the only person staying on that day. The restaurant closed for buffet but they kindly opened the restaurant and served a la carte for as much as i want. Friendly great people!nnFood at the restaurant was delicious albeit a little bit salty to my palate I learned that Swedish love salt in their food.
