We stayed five days in Stockholm. We tried many restaurants from cheap eats to a two star restaurant. Only three we would go back to. This is one of them because of its quality value. The place is relaxed, fun and tasteful. We tried the crispy Caesar squid tempura. Unique and great. The beef tartare served with a wonderful oven hot bread is delicious. The main dish of tacos of carnitas hit the spot. With the most reasonable wine list in Stockholm. Also they have one of the coolest clocks.
Outstanding! Welcoming, great and knowledgeable staff, very good wine list extremely adapted to the food. It is good to listen to staff recommendations. Some dishes rate 11 out of ten and others 8,5/10. Atmosphere 11/10. Will come again I'd love to get a feeling of this place a warm summer evening.
Food is just alright - very small portion. We love the pistachio tiramisu tho! And the drinks are pretty good. But the best thing is the vibes in the restaurant and around the area. Cool hippie area.
Solen attempts to bring the Mediterranean to Stockholm, and does so with ease!nnDeep fried calamari, fresh salads, extravagant pastas and meets grilled over open fire. Those are only a handful of the many dishes served at Solen, all presented beautifully and tasting even more so! As someone who isn’t big on deserts, I was surprised to say that the desserts were the best part for me. Borge the crème brûlée and the sticky toffee pudding where to die for!nnFor drinks there is a wide range of wines to choose from, with labels from all over the world, however, with a focus in wines from the Mediterranean coast. I had a glass of Assyrtiko which went especially nice along with the calamari’s and tostadas, making me feel like I was sitting in a seaside somewhere!nnThe service was very professional, but unfortunately I lacked a little bit of a personal touch from the front of house. The service wasn’t bad by any means, but a touch of more personality would help bring everything to the next level.nnThe open and minimalist dining room provides a really nice atmosphere, while also allowing for a view into the open kitchen. During some parts of my visit, the open dining hall proved a little to open though as thing got slightly to loud for a proper dinner conversation.nnOverall though, Solen had done a beautiful job at capturing the Mediterranean spirit in their food and drinks, proving that they know what it means to live La Dolce Vita. Looking forward to my next visit!
Came for dinner. Server is very attentive and not pushy. Atmosphere renovated warehouse is very cool, along with jazz music playing. Started with Calamari which was crispy fried. It is served with a very heavy Cesar dressing which overwhelms the thin and crispy calamari. It is also served with celery, some of which is the white end which as a cook, I usually discard. I followed with Sea Bass which is extremely salty. Too bad as the cook is very good not over done. I ordered fries as a side - what a let down as they taste like frozen. Overall service and atmosphere are great. Food is quite fair just ok.
