Royal historical landmark. It’s next to the palace and Nobel museum. Royals use the church. We didn’t go in so missed the marvelous architecture and artifacts inside. Bummer !
This review is about Lucia concert only: They placed an uncomfortable, backless bench in a spot with no visibility of the concert, just to sell more tickets and make more money. Elsewhere in the church, chairs were added in the most random places, possibly just to fill the space with people. What we saw of the Santa Lucia concert was 10 seconds after passing through the main aisle. The stage was completely hidden behind pillars. Lamentable, a very bad experience.
The cathedral close to the Royal palace and behind the Nobel museum. Being the church of royal family and the cathedral of church of Sweden, it is quite decorated and mostly painted on golden. The church has many attractions including the state of St George. The alter is made of silver and there are a few wonderful paintings
Beautiful church, chock-a-block with art from across the centuries, floor memorials worn beyond reading, baroque decor, and just general beauty. Interesting, compared to churches in the UK and to the south, the aesthetic impact of visible brick construction.nnAccessible via the Go City card. Worth picking up the little brochure multiple languages as a guide. Definitely worth the visit.
Having seen the statue of George and the Dragon in stone on the street during a city tour, seeing the original in wood was a must see, it does not disappoint.nThe inside is full of fantastic carvings including some Lutheran angels you’ll have to do the audio tour or google this.
