I was staying at Böda Strand when got to know that Öland has a Brazilian restaurant! Their ad in a local magazine even mentioned churrasco! It is not every day that you hear about such places in Sweden so, as a homesick Brazilian, I managed to convince my girlfriend to take a 40 min ride to the place. Arriving there all waitresses had no idea what churrasco is, I ordered a picanha na chapa the closest thing to barbecue in the menu and my girlfriend ordered açaí and coxinha. When we ordered açaí the waitress didn’t know what it was and had to check with another member of the staff who called it “the ice cream we serve in the bar”. Picanha’s meat was disappointing hard to chew, açaí was as liquid as water and the coxinha was drier than the Sahara. To Brazilians craving for food from home: this is not the place. To the restaurant: you are destroying the concept of Brazilian food. Improve it or don’t call it Brazilian!
