Sweden has a long tradition in Peace Support Operations. Our contribution to the United Nations started as early as in 1948 and the first Swedish battalion under UN-flag was deployed in Gaza in 1956. A milestone during the 1960s was the initiative to cooperate and coordinate activities in the field of peacekeeping training between the Nordic countries. The Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) is today the forum for Nordic coordination and cooperation of international courses. During the 1960s the collaboration between the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Police started in order to support training and education of Swedish UN police.
SWEDINT is a PfP Training Centre since 1999.
