Was shopping for a disabled friend with a strict budget. He and I are well versed in wine and spirits, but couldn't find the particular Scotch or Argentinian red I had hoped for. Closes early, especially on Saturday when one might reasonably wish to purchase a bottle for dinner.nThe woman I spoke with didn't even drink whisky so offered no useful advice.nAbout time the state monopoly on sale of alcohol over 3.5% is dismantled I think, and I'm not alone. Wasn't even allowed to borrow a trolley even though I was on crutches!

It was a reminder that, sometimes, in Sweden, knowing the language is less about speaking and more about simply knowing when to be silent.
