Beautiful restaurant with a 300 year old history and cozy interiors that will take you back in time. The premises were very clean and well looked after preserving the age old aesthetics. We had the opportunity to dine their Monday evening buffet, and the food was fantastic. They had a great variety in both protein - pork, chicken, fish and prawns - sides and wines. If you are passing by, definitely drop in and you won’t be disappointed!

We called them weeks in advance and asked if they could arrange a vegan Christmas table. They happily replied: “Absolutely, no problem!” — which is the least you can expect when the price is over 700 SEK per person.nnSo we show up, expectant, hopeful and ready for a “chef-who-knows-what-she-is-doing” experience. Instead… we get red cabbage, kale, rice and a ratatouille. The star of the evening was apparently a slice of oven-baked cauliflower without seasoning, oil or anything at all, served with two broken-up cocktail tomatoes. The whole arrangement was also, to top it all off, almost ice cold.nnI don’t know if this was meant as a joke or if the “chef” was actually serious. In any case, we strongly recommend that anyone who doesn’t want to eat only meat avoid this restaurant.

It's the oldest restaurant in Sweden, dating back to 1663. The atmosphere is decidedly old-fashioned, with some of the original furnishings, such as stoves and fireplaces, retaining their original period features. I tried the fish soup, served with boiled rice and a nice glass of Riesling: the soup was delicious, creamy and delicate, and the fish melted in my mouth. I was also very pleased with the service: the lady even gave me good advice on the grappa schnapps in Swedish. I have no complaints, I'll be back as soon as I can.

Christmas table at Gestgifveri: great!! It really feels like a real Christmas table with a home-made feel. We got our own room with a table for 4 people, and since I am hearing impaired, it is like balm NOT to sit at a long table... And the interior and the building are actually in a class of their own.nHalf a star deduction: a 0.3 l bottle of beer for 99:- is on the high side, I think.

The seafood buffet was far from worth its price around 800 pp and the staff were polite but not more than that. Nice old place but not worth going here just for that, wouldn't go here again just to eat. The hotel was much nicer though, I would have recommended that.
