Lovely feeling to walk in this forest that is left to itself. I walked along the Nature Trail. It is clearly marked. But it might be good to remember that if you go up to what is called the height, you go back a little bit and then you can continue on the Nature Trail.
It was a cute little nature reserve. I like the little signs
Ödegärdet is located in an area with high rainfall and here there are a number of species that thrive where it is humid. There are plenty of mosses and lichens here. Over 130 species of lichen make the area one of the lichen-richest areas in Sweden. For example, there is an unusually high amount of lung lichen here, something that was once used as a cure for lung diseases.nnWhen you wander around the nature reserve and read the small signs, a new little world opens up. Here you can find barnacle lichen, bud lichen and blue-gray flour lichen, to name a few. But there is also a species of fungus here that destroys the lichen and leaves white spots on the trunk that resemble cobwebs.nnYou can't help but hear and enjoy the serenade of birdsong. At the same time, if you are attentive, you may find a squirrel wedged up a tree.nnHere you can also find traces of human toil when this, once upon a time, was cultivated land. The crop mounds are covered in thick moss, but they bear witness to a time of hard work for sustenance. However, we can leisurely walk around here and just enjoy all the beauty of the beech forest.
The wilderness is fantastic, but the sign on the road about the rules for the Nature Reserve has failed to write that dogs must be on a leash in English, which gave me the answer to why I meet relatively many off leashes during the tourist season. Maybe someone can change this. It is good to have dogs loose, but many dogs have their canine companions and do not want unknown dogs running up to them, just like people who are afraid of dogs.
A great place for leisurely walks.
