This is a great spot for happy hours and cocktails. They have a lot of fun small plates to share. The decor is modern pan-Asian and dimly lit so it has a moody dark atmosphere. The decor is exotic and beautiful. Even the bathroom area is designed to be memorable. Great for a fun date night. Service is ok - could have been our luck but we received the wrong items in our order. And the server wasn’t interested in correcting it either. The sushi was the best part. Cocktail and wine menu is extensive and pretty good. Highly recommend making a reservation, it’s a popular place. Enjoy!
High ambitions and good execution.nnWent for a tasting menu and was hoping for a showcase of the best the kitchen has to offer. The result was a mix. Some great dishes and some fairly average.nnService is quick and attentive.nnNice to see some Hitachino Nest on the menu as well.
5-star beef tartar, 3-star other dishes.nThe beef tartar was one of the best I’ve ever had. The meat was hand chopped into slim stripes, which kept the texture of the meat perfect, yet the cut of the meat contained no tendons. The shiitake mushrooms were marinated to sweet and sour flavors, which reduced the greasiness of the dish. The use of the black truffle oil enhanced the aroma of deep fried onions, and made this dish a great delight.nAll the other dishes were pretty “lagom”, not bad but nothing special. The fired chicken and shrimps were not crunchy enough, and the chicken sauce was overly sweet and sour that lacked the balance of savory. The maki sushi rolls were a bit dry in the rice and the dumplings that were supposed to be pan fried were a bit slimy in the dough.nThe dining environment was elegant and their bathroom was outstandingly beautiful. The cocktails were plain, for example it was very hard to sense green tea aroma in the drink called Green Tea Negroni. I tried to order two sakes on their list but they were both sold out.
Toso is probably the most iconic and impressive restaurant in Gothenburg.nOnce you find the restaurant—slightly hidden behind the Stadsteatern—you step into a space that feels like another world. After your eyes adjust to the twilight, you discover a restaurant designed like no other. The rhythm of the music adds another dimension to the atmosphere.nnWhen you open the menu and the first dishes are served, you truly feel as if you’ve arrived in heaven. It marks the beginning of a marvelous evening that only gets better with each round of food.nnThe staff manage to be both friendly and professional, and together with the experienced kitchen team they ensure you feel warmly welcomed and completely comfortable.nnIt may also be the only restaurant where even the lavatories are as beautifully designed as the dining area itself—a real compliment to the designer!nnWe visited Toso during a short holiday in Gothenburg and will definitely return in the future.
Some of the dishes were good, some of them were so ordinary for the price. But one annoying thing is that we had to wait half an hour before the first dish arrive and between almost every dishes. Table booking is for 2 hours but at the end of the booked time slot for our table, we were still waiting for the last dish.nService was not so good.
