The Royal Summer Palace of Tullgarn is located about 70 km from Stockholm near the beautiful wooden town of Trosa. The palace was built by Duke Fredrik Adolf in the 1770s. Later, King Gustaf V and Queen Victoria in particular spent their summers there at the turn of the 19th century. From the castle parking lot, it is a few hundred meters walk throught the extensive castle park to the palace green. The palace is a magnificent neoclassical building at the tip of a beautiful peninsula. Unfortunately, the ticket office was already closed for the day when we arrived, so this time we only admired the palace from the garden. Next time, indoors.
A visit to Tullgarns slott on a sunny summer afternoon is an unforgettable and soothing experience for the whole family. This beautiful and historic palace, located in a scenic green area between Stockholm and Trosa, carries a heritage dating back to the 18th century and Sweden’s royal families, revealing a deep sense of history and authenticity at every turn. Its spacious, well‑designed gardens, with old tree‑lined avenues, offer pleasantly cool shade perfect for resting and picnicking. Alongside peaceful walks in this quiet and charming setting, adults can enjoy swimming in the nearby waters or fishing. Free parking, good facilities, and the elegant, classic architecture of the palace itself make the visit even more delightful. Situated conveniently on the way back from Stockholm, it offers a beautiful stop full of tranquility, nature, and the timeless touch of history to enrich your summer day.
Wow! Visited a sunny and warm autumn day, and strolled around the park for 2+ hours enjoying the scenery. Not that much to do, but such a lovely place on the right day. Perfect for a casual walk, longer walk, photo trip, Swedish fika and more. Well worth a visit
Beautiful palace and very beautiful green area.
Gorgeous palace with beautiful grounds. Lots of place to walk around and explore. It's not overly crowded and it's an absolute joy to go there when it's warmer outside. 10/10 would return
