Small church near slott. Nice little place to check out.
Cute church close to Tyresö castle. Even thought the building from outside it’s not specially beautiful, once you get inside it has a very nice atmosphere and charm. The church grounds and it’s surrounding are very pleasant and if walking distance to the castle so it worth to visit if possible.
Tyresö church is built of red brick and was built on behalf of Baron Gabriel Oxenstierna. He died in November 1640 and the first service performed in the church was the builder Gabriel's own funeral in March 1641.nMost medieval Swedish churches have been hit by fire and Tyresö church was affected in the year 1740. The church tower and roof were damaged by fire and the high spire wasn't rebuilt but instead the church got the low pyramid shaped roof we see today.nThe church is the beginning of a beautiful walk to Tyresö castle which is located just beyond so don't miss it.
I did not go inside. But I liked the surroundings. They have these gardens and places of reflection where you can read inscriptions related to God and life. You can do a small hike around the church and Tyresö slott castle which involves stopping at these places and think about life and God. I found the concept interesting.
