Upperuds Sluss

Beautiful area with lovely looking cafes and restaurants, still working locks, which are fun to watch and an amazing akveduct made in the 19th century.nnSpacious parking area with good toilets, not for camping though.

The locks in Upperud are definitely exciting and beautifully situated, with the lock keeper's house and, of course, the proximity to the Haverud Lock and aqueduct:nn- for hiking and especiallyn- for kayaking, a beautiful, safe, and enjoyable opportunity to navigate the lock system and...n- paddle to the Haverud Lock and the aqueduct, where, of course, there's also the option of continuing through the locks. The paddling route offers stunning scenery, and it's particularly amazing when the Dalslandia ship is being locked through the Haverud Lock and the train is passing overhead—I was lucky enough to experience that!nn- I encountered many helpful hands at the lock. It was especially amusing when, on my first passage, a group of boaters offered to take my kayak on their boat, which I gratefully accepted. On the way back, I navigated the lock system myself and, thanks to the friendly lock keeper, managed it on my own.nn- The Upperud Lock is not far from the Located at Spångens Gästhamn, where a relaxed campsite is hidden, in my opinion the best place to camp in a pleasant environment and to reach the aqueduct with its museum, antique shops, craft and art market...
