A monumental cathedral of breathtaking beauty and majesty, steeped in an immense historical and spiritual heritage. The visit was made flawless thanks to the outstanding skill of the guides: with incredible expertise, clarity, and an engaging enthusiasm, they revealed the secrets of the Gothic architecture, the stories of the royalty buried here, and the treasures within. An extraordinary sacred place that is appreciated even more thanks to such insightful storytelling.
Currently, until 30/08/2026, the exhibition Who Am I by Sean Henry makes visiting the Domkyrka even more special.nnThe cathedral itself is already a true work of art, both inside and out, but the statues add a whole new dimension to the experience.nnSo if you’re in Uppsala before the end of August 2026, definitely take the time to visit!
An absolutely magnificent cathedral with breathtaking Gothic architecture, both inside and out. The soaring ceilings, stained-glass windows, and historical tombs create a unique atmosphere. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a quiet place to reflect, this cathedral is well worth a visit.
One of my favourite places to visit in Uppsala. Calm and serenity washes over you as you enter this magnificent building. Burials of famous scientists, authors and historic figures lay inside the Cathedral, together with kings and queens. Perhaps a simpler interior than most massive cathedrals in Europe, but just as beautiful. There is a museum in on of the towers of the cathedral as well. It doesn't cost anything to enter the cathedral, but the museum does cost a small amount.
Amazing church, the floors are inset with many historical grave covers including the kings and queens, the alcoves with large carved monuments each had a different pattern on the walls and ceilings. Much of tje signage is not in English but Google Lens can translate for you. The runestones located outside that were found to have been incorporated in the ancient foundations ancient until you consider the stones were carved 500 years before the church was built! were awesome to see in person
