With the recent upgrades in the platforms, the station looks much better than before. In general good standard, but during winter heavy snow takes long time to be removed.
I was visiting Uppsala from 24th to 28th September for a conference. I travelled from Arlanda airport to Uppsala via the commuter train and purchased the ticket from a human being in the airport. I requested a return ticket but I was told I would have to purchase a single as the return would expire in a few hours.nnWhen I returned to the airport on 28th September, I tried to purchase a ticket from the yellow machine on the train station platform in Uppsala. I was presented with a series of ticket options which included a 75 minute journey. As the journey from the airport to Uppsala had been less than 20 minutes, I thought this was the correct option. However, it only cost 39 sek and I remembered paying over 100 sek for my ticket to Uppsala. I returned to the screen with ticket options and noticed that one said Arlanda airport and cost over 100 sek. This seemed like the correct option so I purchased this ticket.nnWhen I arrived at the airport, I could not scan the QR code to leave. When I spoke to a member of staff, he said that I had purchased a bus ticket! I explained that I purchased the ticket on the platform of the train station and it was the only option that included the airport. He explained that it was not possible to buy a train ticket from Uppsala to the airport at the train station!nnWhilst I was very impressed with how clean and efficient the trains were, the system for buying a ticket is extremely confusing if you are not local. I could not buy a return ticket in advance and it seems ludicrous that it is not possible to buy a train ticket at the train station for a journey from Uppsala to Arlanda airport but it is possible to buy the bus ticket on the train platform! I feel like the system is purposely designed to deceive foreigners so that they have to pay twice for tickets.
Beautiful place, clean + modern .
This is the central train station in Uppsala. Can access trains anywhere in Sweden
Uppsala central station is everything it needs to be. It is a central hub for regional and local transport, a conference and hotel center, a place to get food and a place to park your bike. It is clean, organized, efficient and secure.
