Well worth making a visit.nnOne of the few churches on the island that remains not destroyed. The inside is pristine and looks like it has been taken care of very well.nnThe entrance is free, but it's worth giving a donation.
This centrally located and beautiful church is a must-visit while in Visby. Its architecture is impressive, and the history behind it makes the visit even more meaningful. Reading a bit about its past beforehand will make the experience all the more rewarding.
The Cathedral itself looks nice, but I personally feel that it has moved away from its traditional religious focus. In my view, a church should primarily represent faith and spirituality, without promoting any social or political agenda. Because of that, I didn’t feel the kind of connection I usually expect from a place of worship.
Fabulous building, this cathedral. We did not go in, however there are some steps to the side which ascend the hill behind, where you will be afforded a fabulous 9 star view of town. And the cruising ships at port!
