Vitlycke is a place for investigation and creation, for research, training and education. A platform where artists can meet, work and discuss.
A place where national and international companies will be able to concentrate on their creations, in a calm environment in the middle of nature, detached from the rhythm of the city.
Vitlycke aims to be a place where rehearse and create, but also where to present both informal showings and finished works, open to an audience.
The studio is 16 m long x 14 m wide and 5.40 high.
By the 2013, we aim to be able, to transform it into a black box -with black sliding curtains, black dance linoleum, bars for lightning, light&sound equipments and a movable tribune for the audience.
Vitlycke will also dedicate time to project focusing on education. The yearly program will include a cycle of workshops; a summer intensive school and an intensive coaching project, with selected groups of participants. Guest teachers, choreographers, theatre directors and dramaturges will be invited to hold the workshops and to share their reflections and experiences on the creative process.
Vitlycke aims to guest and organize also projects connected with visual arts, music, martial arts, new circus, youth, literature, new media&internet communication, theory and cultural production, and different other events.
We are, at the moment, in conversation with several other residency centers, with the intention to collaborate with networks of dance houses and performing centers. There is an interest in involving Vitlycke in several networks supported by the Culture Program of the European Commission.
Vitlcyke is based in Tanumshede (Sweden). The location is quite ideal, being almost right in the middle between Oslo and Goteborg, in the country side, just beside the Vitlycke Museum, in a UNESCO protected area, visited for it's famous Bronze Age stone carvings.
