Architect Konrad Halvorsen founded the architecture firm 'Arkitektkontoret Konrad Halvorsen AS' in 1980, in Moss, Norway. In 1986, Halvorsen bought an old mason building, built in 1849 – at Klostergate 7 in Moss. He acquired the property from the family store owner Marthur Bøhlum, moving the architecture firm to the building in 1987 where the office has remained its headquarters ever since. The building has been the work space for employees as well as other designers, architects and developers over the years and it has become a special space for the creative process, planning, dedication and passionate work. The office has had commisions in various scales and program, involving housing, recreation, public space, urban planning, health services, education and more across Norway as well as Germany, Sweden, Morocco and the United States.
In May 2014, Konrad Halvorsen changed the name of the firm to 'AKHAS Architects' as more designers and architects are involved and take responsbility in the different design tasks carried out to clients.
