Aukra Church is a parish church in Aukra Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Aukrasanden on the southeast coast of the island of Gossa. The church is part of the Aukra parish in the Molde arch-deanery in the Diocese of Møre. The octagonal, white, wooden church was built in 1835. The church seats about 250 people.HistoryThere has been a church here on Gossa island for centuries. The first church that was built here was probably a stave church dating back to the 1430s. In 1648, a new church was built to replace the old one. This church was destroyed by fire in 1709 after a lightning strike. In 1712 a new cruciform church was completed, but that one also was destroyed by fire due to lightning in 1772. The same happened again with the new church which was built in 1774. Another replacement church was built after that, and it too was burned down in 1834. The present church was built in 1835 and it is still standing.
