We dined at Bare yesterday night. The food tasted really good, but unfortunately, we experienced severe stomach issues afterward and were up all night. We had a flight the next morning, which made the situation even worse. This is not something we would expect from a fine dining restaurant. Despite the great taste of food, the aftermath was quite unpleasant.
We had an amazing full Tasting menu here and impeccable service. The food is mind blowing- extremely well thought out, perfectly made and arranged. From the very start of the snacks inside of the stunning bar, to the Tasting menu inside of the beautiful dining room everything was a symphony of service and food. As it is with tasting menus it’s hard to describe it in detail. So the best way do describe it is “innovative & delicious”. Having had a good selection of dining experience like this across the world, I simply don’t understand why Bare has “only” one Michelin Star. It deserves at least two. As a side note - we had the non alcoholic drink pairing a first for me and I highly recommend that. It was innovative, truly matched the dishes and it was delicious!
Me and my friend had 10 courses and a bottle of wine + cocktail and we had a WONDERFUL time here! Foods were perfect! My 1st goes to Norwegian eel, then salmon nigiri, oyster, and matcha crème brûlée I am a very detailed person, and what I recognised here is that their service is top tierI’ve been to too many fine dining, including Michelin star and their service is at the same level as 3 star in Paris So, it is more than “worth the money” I’d definitely come back here again.
Great experience of Japanese - Norway fusion. Fabulous menu and good wine pairing. Point for improvement - to add good Italian coffee espresso, macchiato, cappuccinoMat: 5/5
Michelin star restaurant in Bergen. Over 10 types of foods from the bar area to the restaurant area. The decoration of their foods was amazing although each portion can be tiny. It took nearly 4 -5 hours in total to finish so we left a little bit tired. This is not just for filling stomach but rather a food show. Service is great but could be better.
Michelin stjerne skaper forventninger. Når første glass i vinpakken er champagne, bør man ikke pushe champagne til 270,- per glass som apperitiff uten å nevne dette. Kelner betrodde oss at hemmeligheten med god mat ligger i saltet. Ikke enig, og maten var gjennomgående for saltMat: 4/5
We had shorter tasting menu in 07/2022, food was great and wine pairing superb, service was friendly and not too formal, they even send some Finns from kitchen to serve us some of plates. Only "downside" was, i needed to ask few times non-sparkling wines, as they forgot it, but fixed it with smile on face.
Recently opened, but SUCH a great meal. The food was incredible, the service was GREAT, and the entire atmosphere was perfect. We did the tasting menu with a bottle of wine and I still dream about it. They helped us find the perfect bottle of wine for our meal, and even wrote me a birthday card for it being my birthday. Highly recommend! Spesielle kostholdsbehov: One of us was pescatarian and they were very accommodating and the quality was next level.
Great experience with the new team and the new menu. Chef Pak has created new dishes and dares to combine ingredients in a new way. Generous portions in the set menu unlike many others. Moving the restaurant in to the bar is a clever move. The wine pairing is refreshingly bold. The price for 10 dishes is surprisingly reasonable.Mat: 5/5
Food was top notch. The wagyu beef and the tuna nigiri dish were divine. The atmosphere of the restaurant was good, except for the waiting area we were sitting there for 10mins which looked boring and bland. I was originally worried that I was dining in the waiting area. Unfortunately the owner's behavior tainted the overall experience. Whilst all the staff were attentive and approachable esp. a team member from Lithuania, the owner who sat right next did not seem to care for other guests. The delivery of food was prioritized for him instead of my table. At one point the owner was served multiple dishes whilst I waited for 45mins for my next dish. The owner did not realize nor care that we were waiting, and continued to be focused on the dish, and listening to how his staff delivered the "story" behind the dish. Towards the end, a card with the day's menu, signed by the owner, was delivered to us by a staff member whilst the owner was sitting right next to us. The owner did not even greet, let alone look at us. If I were the owner, I would have deliver the card to the guest myself. I find this behavior a bit disrespectful.
