Bergen Havn, also known as the Port of Bergen, is one of the largest and busiest ports in Norway. It is located in the city of Bergen on the country's west coast. The port has a rich history, dating back over a thousand years, and has been a significant hub for maritime trade and transportation. Today, Bergen Havn serves as a key gateway for cruise ships, cargo vessels, and local ferries. It is a popular starting point for fjord cruises, offering stunning views of Norway's famous fjords and coastal scenery. The port area is also near many of Bergen's top tourist attractions, such as Bryggen the historic Hanseatic Wharf, the Fløibanen funicular, and the Bergen Fish Market. Regarding tourist pricing and entrance, there is no fee to enter the general port area. However, specific activities or attractions, like fjord cruises or guided tours, will have their own prices. These vary depending on the service provider, the length of the tour, and the season. It's advisable to check with local tour operators or the Bergen Tourist Information Center for the most up-to-date pricing and schedules.
It is one of the most popular tourist spots in Bergen. All the ferries and cruises leave from here. Tourist Information Centre and famous Fish Market are here. There are a lot of hotels and restaurants nearby. A great place for people watch.
The harbor provides a very cozy flair to the city center of Bergen. You can find lots of restaurants and shops around it. Walking around it is definitely worth it and will take 15-30 minutes for the entire „U shape“ :- We enjoyed it a lot.
Great for some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle.
visited in 1996 as part of us navy cruise. a picturesque area filled with colorful buildings, bustling fish markets, and charming cafes. the harbor is a hub of activity, with boats and ferries coming and going, and locals going about their daily routines. visitors can take a stroll along the waterfront, watch the seagulls and boats, or explore the narrow cobblestone streets of the old town. the area is also home to several historic landmarks, such as the imposing bergenhus fortress and the charming hanseatic wharf. with its unique atmosphere and rich cultural heritage, bergen norway harbor is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to the region.
Bergen is a good place for visit because they have fresh seafood market, Oyster, crabs, shrim, Strang fish inthe ocean and even some meat also. There also have a lots of shop for visit, nice city. Recommend to visit. ***Hard to found parking place. We pay for parking pace 200/ 1.30 hr.
As darkness falls, the iconic wooden buildings of Bryggen are bathed in a warm, golden light, creating a picturesque scene straight out of a fairy tale. The reflections dance on the rippling water below, adding to the enchantment of the surroundings. The harbor comes alive with the glow of lights from boats and ships bobbing gently on the water. The reflections create shimmering patterns that seem to dance with the rhythm of the waves, casting an ethereal aura over the entire area. Beyond the harbor, the lights of Bergen city twinkle like a constellation against the backdrop of the surrounding mountains. From the vantage point of the harbor, you can take in the entire cityscape, with its mix of historic buildings and modern architecture.
Beautiful harbor, made even nicer by the low light of a summer evening. We were there late 22:00 so pretty much everything was closed but enjoyed our walk, photos, and sights of the buildings and people.
Nice historical part of Bergen. Wooden warehouses are Unesco heritage. Always beautiful and interesting ships to see.
