Beautiful church! This church holds a ton on history and is very well preserved. The museum had some nice touches and information. If you’re able to add this to your trip, I highly recommend it!Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetid
What a church!!! Never seen church like this one! One of the oldest churches with most beautiful smell... Resembles me an old wise woman with wrinkles all over her body who has seen a lot and nothing can surprise her. Incredible piece of history.
Beautiful stave church, very well preserved 86% original wood for over 8 centuries. Guides are around to answer questions. There's a lovely visitor center with small cafe sandwiches, drinks, delicious cakes, vegan stew and rolls, exhibit and small gift shop. Beautiful surrounding countryside, open, welcoming space, pleasantly uncrowded with steady flow of visitors. Delightful and very helpful staff.
We booked our bus ticket from Flam Visitor Centre for this place just one hour before departure. It was a 50 seater bus and we two were the only passengers. The bus driver was very friendly and he stopped the bus at 2/3 places to show us some interesting spots and some waterfalls. These stops were not part of journey, but since we were the only passengers, he stopped it. The bus fare included entry to this beafuful Church. It is considered to be the best preserved Stave Churches in Norway. The main Church was in a very good condition. We sat for five minutes and felt positive vibes. The old church was also worth seeing though its condition was not good at all see my pictures. The surroundings of the Church had beautiful landscaping and scenic view of the mountains in the background. Thereafter we had some coffee in the Visitors Centre. On the whole it turned out to be a very good trip seeing the beautiful countryside and some breathtaking waterfalls see pictures.
Borgund church is considered to be the best preserved of the surviving stave churches in Norway. The most incredible thing is that this church has survived until today. The ticket costs 100 NOK per adult. It allows you to visit the stave and the new churches. More pictures of our roadtrips in Hordaland Norway and in the World on my Insta : manu_arcueil

A very beautiful place to visit in the middle of nowhere. It takes time to reach by car but for sure the efford worths it. It is close to a circular hiking route. It closes from october, but the outside is still beautiful enough to compensate the trip.
Beautiful stave church in its original surrounding. The admission fee is quite high for what you get tho. Small exhibition about stave churches plus the entrance to the church that is super tiny, not lit up at all , not much explained or anything. Tbf it is much more beneficial to see the one in Oslo Folksmuset where you can ask all the questions to the friendly volunteers but also see the spectacular interior as well as other houses and artifacts for almost the same price. The place was packed with dummy tourists when we visited so it lost a lot of its magic and mistical vibe. A beautiful place nontherless especially for fans of stave churches. I advise to go in the off peak time when you can enjoy the full charm of this place. The church is in an original state , with lots of tar bulit up over the centuries, so it is a real architechtural and spiritual gem.
This is a must see. Please drive the “King’s” road to get there. The sights are amazing. Once you arrive there is a good amount of parking space. There is a fee to see the church well worth itand the welcome center has lots of information regarding the church as well as a small cafe to get a coffee, or light lunch if little ones are hungry. What an Amazon Ing structure. The age of the building alone is enough to make you pause. The fact you can enter and really see the craftsmanship up close is a real treat. You have to go here!
