Borre Golfbane was opened with nine holes in 1990 and 18 holes the following year. In 2005 the course opened nine new holes, which were added to the first nine along lake Borrevannet. Borre Golfbane has hosted two Challenge Tour events: the first professional golf tournament on Norwegian soil, the Karsten Ping Norwegian Challenge in 1994, sponsored by Karsten Solheim, and in 1998, the Netcom Norwegian Open. The course is located in Norway near the small town Horten by the Oslofjord. The courseBorre Golfbane consist of two parkland courses, 18 and 9 holes. The 18-hole course, "New Borre" is par 72 and 6365 meters long (6851 yds) from champions tees. It runs along lake Borrevannet, which makes it a scenic experience. Most visiting golfers praise the surroundings even if the scoring could be better. The nine-hole course, "Old Borre" is par 36 and 2927 meters long (3200 yds) from champion tees. This is the back-nine of the original course, and demanding enough, with water in play on seven holes and surrounding forest on most of the course. Both courses have four tees; ladies and gentlemen, club and champion tees.
