The owner, Mr. Øyvind Dammen is a retired Colonel from the Norwegian Army with 38 years of service. He is an international affairs professional with Military and Foreign Service background which includes all together seven years as Senior Diplomat at PM of Norway to the United Nations (UN) in New York.
He has proven leadership in national and multinational environment and with international experience in mediation and negotiation in peace processes. He is a concept developer on international peace and rule of law related training.
In his 38 years of service, he has held important decision making positions like Command Director of the Norwegian Army UN Training Centre for two years, a job that contained Human Resource Management and Training of individuals and units for UN and NATO peace operations, and national logistic responsibility for these troops.
His background was essential when he became the Chief of Staff and later, the Director of Norwegian Defence International Centre (Nodefic). In this job he was the Chairman of the Nordic Cooperation for Peace Support Operations’ working-group for training and development. Nodefic is responsible for delivering among many others, high level peace related courses with international military and civilian participation.
His proven leadership and diplomatic skills brought him twice to New York as the Deputy Military Adviser and the Military Adviser at the PM of Norway to the UN, including the period of Norway’s membership in the UN Security Council in 2000 - 2002. During this 7-year diplomatic service, Mr. Dammen was mainly responsible for peacekeeping, rule of law and security sector reform issues and the Special Committee for Peacekeeping Operations (C-34).
In 2003, he was appointed to a post conflict arbitration leadership position with the objective of taking part in the peace process between the Free Aceh Movement and the Indonesian Government where he mediated and negotiated an agreement between both parties and managed the information branch of the operation.
When retire from the Armed Forces, Mr. Dammen founded the Dammen Consultants Norway (DCN), a consultants company doing business in peace related areas which includes being a member of a UN expert panel on Sexual exploitations and abuse by UN and other relevant organizations.
Mr. Dammen has developed a reliable worldwide network, and remained committed to provide superior solutions to a reputed international and local clientele.
