Historie

The company was founded in 1982 with boatmen work for Elkem Lista, now ALCOA, and various shipowners for ships in layup.
In 1991 the first tug and icebreaker was bought in from Sweden and
a new segment was created.

In 2011 the company bought 100% of the shares in Inter-Marine AS.
Inter-Marine is providing port agency, ship management and crewing as well as marine surveyors to the offshore and shipping business.
Inter-Marine is today ISM manager for coastal bulkers and holding DOC for the flag state of Norway and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

FFS Facts:
• In 2012 FFS won the contract with the Norwegian Coastal Department for providing Pilot shuttle in the area.
• FFS was awarded Achilles certificate in 2011 and is also approved by the Norwegian Directorate for construction quality.
• FFS is currently building a new base in Farsund including a total 200 meters of quay, warehouse, workshop and offices.

Towing and salvage:
Our tugs is approved for towing, guard and st.by
operations and suitability controlled regularly by warranty surveyors from DNV, Noble Denton, Bureau Vogtschmidt, Lloyds register, and many others. The tugs are implemented in our ISM system
approved by Germanischer Lloyd.


Normal operations for our tugs:
• Ship/Barge handling and harbor towage.
• Towing of steel sections and constructions on barge.
• Towage of new building`s from Baltic to Norwegian yards.
• STS Operations
• St.by and guard service for hyperbaric operations.
• Out hiring of barges for ocean and harbor transports.
• Emergency towage , salvage, Wreck removal, and firefighting.


Boatmen and Mooring Operations:
The boatmen and mooring activity is still one of the most important and challenging operations of our business. Experience, well proven routines, quality control system, seaman’s skills and safety in focus is the key factors that shall make us to a preferred partner for complex mooring operations by leading offshore and shipping companies.
FFS keeps a rich variety of mooring equipment in stock at all times such as Yokohama fenders, oversized truck tires, Spacer pontoons,
anchors and chain etc. All equipment is offered for both rental and sale. We can provide a full scope of service for regularly arrivals, layup and STS operations including skeleton crew and crew for watch keeping.
