Irina Fortez, the founder of Fortez Musikkskole in Stavanger, was born in the small Latvian port town Ventspils. Her first acquaintance with music began at home in early childhood . Irina’s mother is a professional dancer and a choreographer and her father, despite of being a shipmaster, has been writing poems and playing guitar all his life. Music and songs never left their house.
At the age of 6 years Irina was admitted to music school to the piano class. 8 years later having successfully graduated from music school, she decided to devote her life to music and at the age of 14 went to musical school where she had been studying for 4 years. But she didn't stop there and decided to continue professional education in Russia.
In 1992 Irina entered Musical Variety Art faculty at the Saint Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts . She was lucky to be in the class of the head of the department, a famous Russian composer and a pianist Victor Mikhaylovich Lebedev.
Victor Mikhaylovich Lebedev, a holder of the title People’s artist of Russia, State Prize winner, professor at the Saint Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts , is especially known for his creativity in music to the movies "Naval Cadets, Charge!", "Look for the Woman", "Heavenly Swallows", "It Is Difficult to Be God".

At the same time Irina received professional skills in the field of pop vocal.
In 1997 after she finished her studying, Irina decided to come back home to Latvia where her professional career started.
She took part in numerous musical projects as a singer and presenter. She also organized many entertaining events and show programs.
She had her own host show ‘Across 7 Seas’ for seamen and their families on the State Latvian Radio LR4 107.7 FM Riga.
She gained experience on the radio as a news presenter for New Radio 103.2 FM Riga and Radio Baltkom 93.2 FM Riga.
She was a partner with a children's studio Art Mix Studio in Riga, working there as a vocal teacher.

In 2009 there was a new stage in Irina’s life as she moved to Stavanger, Norway.
Soon Art Studio Fortez music school was established where Irina Fortez successfully gives life to her creative plans. And also shares her musical experience and knowledge with the students. She continues to organize musical events for children and adults.
