Contemporary Art Gallery
Galleri Maria Veie was established by art historian Maria Veie in 2008 as a test-ground of language and audience approach for commercial galleries. From 2009 - 2013 the project was connected to a permanent location in Oslo, developing solo shows by young Norwegian and Oslo-based artists. In 2016 the project opened a new permanent location in the rural branch in Skogn, with pop-up projects in other cities. Maria Veie has an iconological approach to curating, and has developed site specific projects in Norway, Germany, France, the Netherlands, USA and Hong Kong.
Galleri Maria Veie is an exhibition space for site-specific art; presenting installations, video, photography and monumental drawings by artists born after 1970. More than fifty exhibitions have been presented for a Norwegian and International audience in co-operation with the Norwegian Arts Council and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The gallery aims to be sustainable, e.g. using ecological products, electronic marketing and recycled materials for publications
