Very cute museum. A lot of interesting artifacts. You can see how people dress back then, what they hunt, what they ate, where they lived. We also watched a beautiful movie about Geiranger and Norway. I am glad we visited it. They also offer small souvenir shop, cafe with ice cream and restroom.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
Walked from town along the relatively easy with steps beautiful waterfall walk to the centre. Tickets are purchased from the kiosk/souvenir shop & was a bit disorganised with multiple tills & staff operating with cafe orders amongst centre visitors. All worked ok with pensioner discounts available. The centre is multiformatted with a video of the local sights from across the seasons, a small art gallery, section on world Unesco sights, some geology & fauna, a bit on glaciers/fjords & then local history incl avalanches. We probably spent around an hour on site. Area has parking & toilets as well, & is serviced by tour buses. Short walk back into town via historic church.

An interesting place to visit. The theatre showed a great 10 minute presentation. Customer toilets are available. A great little coffee shop too. They also sell local Norwegian jumpers.VentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
Fascinating museum telling the story of fjord - very well presented. Don’t bother with slide show - nice pics but not informative if you want to understand the fjords. Great walk down the river starts here.
Nice experience. Good coffee. Go see the waterfalls.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedag

Nice place to visit if arriving into port via cruise ship.. Plenty to see and read about the past. Loads of grass area to sit n chill. Coffee cafe, food too, toilet facilities, nik naks to buy, then to gear up to walk down to sea level via the bridges and steps. Only negative was a video playing, basically saying they hate the cruise ships and all they stand for, so quickly left saying I'd arrived via paddleboard
The movie was a bit of a disappointment as we expected it to have educational content. The rest of the exhibition was insightful and well presented. Parking charge 40 kr/h, outside toilets for additional 20kr charge leaves a bitter aftertaste. Consider streamlining your visit - which I warmly recommend regardless. Allow 1,5 hours for the visit.
