Historie

Icons can make beautiful, highly personal gifts that become family heirlooms passed down the generations. Weddings, baptisms, Confirmations, Ordinations…a sacred icon can be a gift unusual, sacred and deeply personal.

An icon can seem a very expensive investment, but when written to the highest standard what you are commissioning is a work of art with theological and spiritual depth that will last centuries, an heirloom for many communities and generations to come.
However, it need not be too astronomical. A simple face of Jesus, about A4 size, without gilding, costs about 4000 NOK.
If you have a budget, then why not discuss what might be possible?

No gold paints is used, just pure g23½ ct gold leaf. Panels are water gilded, a tricky and demanding technqiue that produces a brilliant shine. Each icon is painted using free range eggs and a natural palette of pigments, a process harmonious with God’s Creation, in egg tempera - a medium going back thousands of years. This require building up many layers of translucent colour, a process very demanding and time consuming but producing un-rivaled levels of luminosity.

Designing an icon involves the analysis of existing icons from the tradition that stretches back to the dawn of Christianity. As a trained theologian I draw deeply on the theological richness of the Orthodox Church especially. Sacred geometry plays an important part in this.

All this icons are painted of Arkhimandritova Lalita in Norway.
Lalita teaches icon painting.
Lalita was born in Russia, St.Petersburg, She has university education as painter and private courses from icon painter Rastislav Girvel. Her icons are in private collections in Russia, Norway and Germany.
Some of her icons are in churches of Russia and Norway.

Each icon is a theological work, an expression of the Word becoming incarnated, with the mysteries of the Christian faith worked out in line and color.
