WHAT IS MAGMA GEOPARK?
UNESCO Magma Geopark is a fascinating outdoor area included in the municipalities of Bjerkreim, Lund, Eigersund, Sokndal and Flekkenfjord. You can visit the Geopark all year around.
This area has been called UNESCO Global Geopark because its geology is special with a moon landscape composed by very hard modeled rocks called anorthosite. This formation gives the unique shape to the landscape and has had great influence the cultural habits in the area for centuries.
WHY VISIT MAGMA GEOPARK?
The area gives wonderful surroundings for several outdoor activities: hiking, biking, kayaking, climbing and also fishing in one of the most famous salmon rivers in Norway. The park is possible to explore by booking Magma Geopark specialized guides or by your own.
