Great French and Japanese food, especially the passion fruit crème brûlée. Note that it is not a fusion restaurant. Their menu clearly has a French side and a Japanese side. The two cuisines are domestic partner without kids.Mat: 4/5
Adorable little restaurant in an old converted house. The service was excellent and the food was all great. The standouts were the mussels in a curry broth and the shrimp dumplings. The menu is small and honestly, I wanted to try everything.Mat: 5/5
Service was great! Atmosphere is also very lovely. Such a cute place but the salmon was way too salty to my taste. The tofu was yummy. Veggies are a bit on the oily side but still very delicious.Mat: 3/5
Came here with a reservation and the nice owner greeted us and made us feel at home! Good: - Super cute homey decorations - Absolutely sweet staff - Great ginger pork bowl - so many flavors and great portion sizes! - Miso soup was great and hearty Bad: - The French miso toast was average - didn’t feel too different than a normal French toast - The bento box had less flavor than I thought - my favorite part of it was the mushrooms Overall great place to get food pre Coachella! This was a good find.
For the cost and the pretentiousness, I had higher expectations. The courtyard seating is nice but we experienced a few hiccups.... We booked 2 on the patio. Came 30 minutes early to ask if we could add another. There was pushback even though we were sitting on an open patio with loosely arranged tables. Could have just put an extra chair at our table. Did end up seating us. It was 7 and had run out of Burrata Salad already. Didn't have vegetarian options for the main for a set menu. Charged for the full set menu even though one guest had to do an appetizer and dessert bc there weren't options. Food was ok. Seafood stew was a bit salty but had a good portion of seafood. Corn fritters were nice. Chicken and mashed potatoes were soupy. Desserts were yummy. The tarte and the profiteroles were tasty! Then when we got our bill, I signed the copy and tipped 25%. Waiter comes back and insists I haven't filled it out. Brings me a new copy. Not our bill. We point that out and he pushes back a bit but then realizes he has the signed copy that I did earlier. Doesn't apologize. Just says he has it and they looked similar in amount and walks away. Need a bit of work to be a polished dining experience worthy of the cost and attitude.
Love the atmosphere, food, and service! Interesting fusion menu. Both Japanese and French selections are wonderful.Mat: 5/5
What a great little place! Tucked in a pedestrian alley to the west of Indian Canyon sits this quaint little cafe with an Asian/French fusion cuisine menu. Your choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The outdoor seats do have umbrellas for shade. The service is good and the menu is concise and focused. They have different menus for brunch on the weekends. I ordered a deconstructed chicken Caesar salad called Chicken Paillard which was a half wedge of romaine covered in absolutely delicious Caesar dressing with shaved Parmesan and a very flattened, grilled chicken breast seasoned with thyme and other herbs that was quite good. Also has a solid selection of adult beverages and a comforting and cozy environment. Highly recommended.
We had dinner on June 01, 2024. The service was friendly, but could have been better. We were asked to keep our salad fork for the entrée, which is a little tacky for that type of restaurant. Also, we were not provided a steak knife, just a dull butter knife, even though we both ordered steak. The Béarnaise Sauce, which accompanied the steak, was missing its tarragon flavor almost completely. Other than that, the food and experience was pretty good.
The restaurant's situated within a beautiful alley. We were greeted by the friendliest staff who shared the story behind the restaurant name and provided excellent service ensuring we are well attended to. The salad croutons is the best I've had and the rest of the food were good.
Outdoor dinner during a stay for Joshua Tree National Park. The menu rotates every few weeks. App - mushroom soup with truffle oil. Chock full of mushroom bits in decent sized bowl. Felt full & was glad there was some rest time before the main course. Main - Asian sea bass, which was really a rock/white fish. Generous portion again & the skin was nicely seared & the fennel confit had a pickly taste that nicely balanced out the fish. Dessert - cheesecake with blueberry sauce; perfectly creamy without it being overly sweet or rich. Drink - Arnold Palmer; just the right blend of tea & tart lemonade Service - attentive without hovering Very satisfying dining experience!
