Welcome! We offer you the experience of the nature in our mountains. The town of Oppdal is situated between 3 national parks with wild animals, mountainous landscapes, and all kinds of weather. Check our popular musk ox safari, activities, and equipment rental. We are the original! Hosting guests since 1951. Safari tours since 1995.

We had twice luck. First the weather was good and second our guide, Emily, found the musk oxes quick. We walked a total of +/-8km, but Emily told us that sometimes they need to walk 20km to find them. The area is astonishing, really beautiful. We absolutely recommend it. Bring your own food, bring warm clothes, it's really windy and cold out there. Emily gave us some tea/coffee. Just a quick word about our guide, Emily. She was super friendly, you see she loves what she is doing. She answers every question and reads the body languages of the animals really well, which is important. She gave us the possibility to take beautiful close ups from the musk oxes. And we absolutely love british humour. So with everything, huge thanks to her.
What a super beautiful hike and safari! Morten not only explained a lot about the musk oxen, which were simply mighty, but also about other animals, birds, flowers and nature. Morten was a super guide. Everything was well organised and he even had coffee, tea and cinnamon rolls with him. Simply a great recommendation!!! Behalf of a very happy Belgian family!
Vi deltok på en orrfuglsafari 4-5. mai 2024. I fjor deltok vi på en liknende tiur-safari. Vi ble møtt klokken 1900 på kvelden av Erlend fra Oppdal Safari som transporterte oss til stedet hvor vi skulle overnatte i et telt rigget for overnatting og fotografering. Etter at vi hadde kommet i orden, tok det ikke lang tid før showet startet med en kveldsforestilling. Rundt 8 orrfugler buldret, sloss og viste seg fram til rundt midnatt da de tok en pause. Deretter startet de hovedshowet ca klokken 0200 og holdt på til 0600. Alt i alt, helt prikkfri organisering og en helt fantastisk naturopplevelse i flott natur. Erlend viste seg som både en hyggelig og kunnskapsrik guide, noe som gjorde turen ekstra suksessfull. Overnatting i fototelt anbefales både for foto-interesserte, men også for familier eller andre som ønsker en annerledes naturopplevelse. Terningskast 10.
Our guide Sigbjørn was excellent. It was a good combination of hiking, explanations regarding flora and fauna, with a focus on musk ox of course, and general information. The group of 19 participants was a bit large but nice. We had great Musk Ox sightings for quite some time. Clearly recommendable! Special thanks to Tell for carrying the coffee.
We decided to do the Musk Ox Safari, which was an 11 km hike up hill in the beginning with a guide, Hedda. She was really sweet and helpful guiding us and answering questions. We saw two Musk Ox on another mountain and around 7-8 far away about 7 km away from us. It was therefore very important to have binoculars on the trip. Hedda had a very pro kind, which she borrowed us to see them. Super nice hike even though we didn’t see any Musk Ox near us :- We also got coffee and cinnamon buns on our lunch break. Very nice!

Morton was our guide today and he was a real jerk. He seemed very apathetic and appeared to want to get the tour over with as quickly as possible. He walked extremely quickly and did not look back much. At one point we had hiked very far off of the trail. The ground was wet and the plants were thick. I am from Los Angeles, California and have never been in this bog type of environment. I needed a real guide to help us. Morton failed to perform his basic job functions today. I asked if we could please go back to the trail. Morton sprinted out like a reindeer on his own leaving the group behind. Eventually, my husband and I became separated from the group and we were temporarily left behind. We powered through and made it back. I was very angry and told Morton to do his job. Keep track of the group. Help people ford the streams. He said he didn't notice that we were missing. I told him that he needs to pay attention. He asked me how I booked my trip. I told him that I did not know because my husband booked it for our group of six people. Morton's only concern was that my disappointment with his poor job performance would negatively impact the business. I came to Norway to experience its beautiful, glorious nature. Today was to be the highlight of my trip. I feel hurt, heartbroken, and deeply disappointed. I wanted to take my time enjoying the scenery. I wanted a guide who cared and would teach me about this incredible Norwegian environment. It was a truly missed opportunity. We planned this trip for close to a year. We researched and dreamed. We flew to Norway from the United States and drove into the park. We deserved better and so do you. I do not recommend this company.

Nice hike, nice scenery, knowledgeable guides and of course we saw a family of muskoxes. Also suitable for kids that are used to hiking.
Fantastic tour with Sigbjørn. Our guide had in-depth knowledge of how to read nature. We were three friends going to dovre rather late in the season. I expected varied weather and at best luck a glance at one of these beasts. Sigbjørn guided us on a full day trip sighting the moskus at close range on several occasions. The weather was surprisingly nice and the guides skills made our day amazing. Thanks for an excellent experience starting oppdal station
