Extensive experience in an innovative industry
RadøyGruppen is one of the region’s most experienced companies in terms of modification and maintenance of vessels. The shipping industry has been highly important to the company ever since it was established over 40 years ago. During this period, the maritime sector has experienced tremendous growth, and today Norway can boast the most advanced fleet in the world. This is a development we have been part of, and we have, as a result, acquired a unique level of expertise and experience.
Excellent premises with facilities such as two quay areas for vessels up to 200 meters in length, separate Ro-Ro quay, a quay crane and modern machinery enable us to deliver products and services in line with market demand.
Renewable Energy
A future in wind
RadøyGruppen started focusing on renewable energy as early as in the 1980s. Today, alternative sources of energy are once again of major interest, and, as before, we are very much involved in the development.
The world will continue to rely on hydrocarbons for many years to come, but renewable sources of energy are necessary in order to bring CO emissions down. Wind power is an energy source many believe in, and RadøyGruppen is at present involved in the development and production of a rotor for one of the main operators in this sector. With our extensive experience in the offshore, subsea and maritime sectors, we are also an ideal partner for companies focusing on the development of new energy sources.

History
RadøyGruppen is family-owned, and was established by Olav Ståløy and Alf Hamre in 1969. The company grew rapidly, and only a few years later it had outgrown its leased premises at Manger. As a result, new production halls were built at Olsvollstranda, Radøy in 1974. During the 70s and 80s, the company enjoyed the benefits of a high level of activity in the Norwegian oil industry, and this led to further expansion of its production facilities.
In the 80s and 90s, the main area of focus was equipment to the shipping industry, and during this period a large number of ship cranes, transport systems, side gates and hatches left RadøyGruppen’s production line. As the structures increased in size, even larger production areas with adequate quay facilities were needed. Consequently, the company acquired its current premises at Vetås, Radøy in 1996. This provided RadøyGruppen with excellent facilities by the sea, and after vast resources had been invested in the quay and production areas the company was ready to break into new markets. From the mid-90s onwards, several steel bridges were produced and the company’s focus on vessel repairs and offshore-related activities increased.
At the turn of the millennium, the subsea market was expanding rapidly and RadøyGruppen soon established itself as a major manufacturer of steel structures to this sector. Today, the subsea industry, as well as floating installation and vessel -related maintenance assignments, are among RadøyGruppen’s most important markets.
HSEQ
RadøyGruppen has adopted a zero tolerance approach to injuries and damages to people, the environment and materials. To us as a company, this is about respecting people, the environ-ment and our values. Therefore, we continuously strive to implement preventative measures in order to effectively prevent accidents and damages and at the same time create a safe and secure working environment.
However, improvements in the areas of health, safety, environ-ment and quality are not the only advantages of a committed HSE approach. We also consider such efforts to be highly beneficial in financial terms. Employees who feel safe are more likely to enjoy their work, and employees who enjoy their work are likely to be more productive. We are convinced that continuous focus on HSEQ will have a positive effect on the company’s end result. Consequently, we see this work as a long-term and necessary contribution to the company’s financial position, reputation and future growth.
