Lovely music museum containing so many instruments in a chronological order. The main part can be visited during the normal working hours and you can click on the displayed buttons to hear how some of the exhibited instruments sound a very practical touch. But you may wish to find out when they offer guided tours, as part of the museum is only open for the public with a guide, which really makes all the difference. We were lucky to catch such a guided tour, and the guide was amazing, took us through all the rooms while playing some of the instruments. The cafe is not good. If on time, I recommend taking the 15 min stroll towards the fjord and enjoy some good coffee and food at Sponhuset. If you really need a coffee here, don't take the espresso - maybe the Norwegian filter coffee is better. :
A lovely museum in super surroundings. Take a guided tour so you can see the house and experience the guide playing the instruments to illustrate the passage of music history. The other parts of the museum are also interesting especially where you hear some of the sounds they produce. Some car parking in the grounds. For underground parking try the City Lade 3 hours free parking, validate at machine in shopping mall above escalator before leaving and then walk to the Museum.
Veldig fint turområde med ett artsmangfold av botaniske vekster fra hele verden. Fint både sommer og vinter.Besøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesNei
The most fascinating museum I have ever visited. It is absolutely worth a visit if you have the opportunity. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and such talented musicians in their own right. Our guide for the day was a charming young man, a classical musician and student who did tell us his name but I unfortunately can't recall it - he had mentioned it was hard to pronounce but is all I can recall and this excellent chap played many of the instruments for us as part of the tour. His knowledge was incredible and his ability to play beautiful classical pieces, with his eyes closed no less, on each historic instrument was incredible to watch. The home and instruments are beautifully preserved and maintained, and clearly loved and respected by the staff. This was an excursion booked through a cruise I took just this month and I have to say it was one of my favourites. Cruising through the Norwegian Fjords was a treat in itself, but The Ringve was an experience I will never forget.
Fabulous.i didn't think I would enjoy it but it was one of my favourite trips. The building is very interesting. Not only did our guide tell us the history of the instruments we saw but she was a skilled musician. Her playing and singing really made the tour. There are also some pleasant gardens you can walk roundBesøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidMinst 1 timeForhåndsbestilling anbefalesJa
When you arrive, sign up for the next tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about music, history and PLAYED the antique instruments for us!! Before or after the tour, my favorite was the “instrument gallery” on the 2nd floor! They have instruments from all around the world from 1575!! to recent. There are interactive buttons that play recordings of the instruments for you. We happened to arrive just as a concert was beginning in the Concert Hall. We could have benefited from a snack from the cafe first. Ideally you’ll check the schedule and plan it. This museum incorporates world history, Norwegian history, music history, showcases a wealthy family’s home and furnishings from the turn of the century. It’s really interactive. There’s stuff that is interesting for people of all ages. The music garden is great for kids or adults to try several real instruments. This should be at the top of your list!!
The guided tour is really nice and the old villa can only be visited with the tour is beautiful. The rest of the museum is small, but they have an interesting collection of instrumentsBesøkte stedetPå en ukedagVentetidIngen ventetidForhåndsbestilling anbefalesIkke sikker
Absolutt verd besøket og litt stiv billettpris hvis man får med seg omvisningen. Som en privat konsert hvor omviser spiller på instrumentene. Selve den faste museumsutstillingen er grei, men ikke veldig omfattende
A well stocked museum, with a hands-on room for budding musicians, and well informed, friendly staff.
