Historie

STB was founded on a dark autumn night 1992 in the lounge on Grendehuset in Saltnes, specifically on September 25. The Seed of a boy's club was sown in the area around the Old Route 40-50 a few weeks earlier. At this first meeting was attended by Knut H, Jon H, Svein O and Per Chr. R. and thus the ball was going. Interest was impeccable and we quickly reached the ceiling of 25 members. The training is held the last Friday of the month in the lounge of the village house. (4 of 4 in the fall and spring) STB is now opened to more members, although with a limitation. It can only be taken in a lace every other year, the candidate must be recommended by some other members. Candidates must apply in writing for membership. Recommended candidate as he takes up immediately and go through a two - 2-year apprenticeship as lace. There are none that have failed after the apprenticeship. STB is an experienced tour operator, traditional tours are especially ski jumping competition in Rådal Marka worth mentioning. This is an annual tradition that lasts over two days. It held a ski jumping, a akekonkuranse (i bitch Hill, where yours truly has the unofficial record jump of 12 meters, 7 meters and 5 meters across. Sleds are now attached.) And now the new cross country pursuit. This takes place on day two. Something that has been a success is our trips to ski World Championship in Nordic skiing. Trondheim 1997, Ramsau 1999, Lahti 2001, Val di Fiemme 2003, Oberstdorf 2005, Sapporo 2007, Liberec 2009, Oslo 2011


SALTNES TURN OG BEKSØM
is an idealistic organisation, with 35 members.
The mission of the organsation is to support and strengthen Norwegian skiing traditions, and to
enhance to quality of the members life!
The ‘Beksoem stovel’ (traditional Norwegian ski boot) is a central symbol in
our activities, and also our logo.
Among our many events, our traditional ski-jump competition has an important role.
As our climate is somewhat unstable, we have to arrange this event without consideration
on snow conditions. When there is no snow, our performance is somewhat degraded,
but the competition is of course fierce as always. It must be admitted that we still
have members that after several years still have not reached the ski-jump, as the hill
above the jump is rather steep..... But we’re sure they will make it all one day!


The Nordic World Ski Championships is an event we have participated in the last 4 times.
After an eager start in Trondheim in –97, we carried on with Ramsau in –99. In both
events we were of course strong supporters for all athletes, not only the Norwegian.
This is a tradition in Norway, to support all participants strongly.
In Ramsau –99 we arranged our first international K4 event, which were
covered by several international TV stations.


The success was repeated in Lahti –01, were we also had a major gathering in
our tent camp, where traditional Norwegian food and snaps were served. Lahti was also
the major event for our new congress tent, housing approx. 25 persons.
It is fair to say that our presence is appreciated and noted, as an example
for this we can mention that on our tent ground in Fellman Park in Lahti City,
a three and a monument is placed with an inscription,
in remembrance of ‘Saltnes Turn and Beksoem’.


To Val Di Fiemme we will arrrive with 52 men, as we have invited some qualified
persons in addition to the members of ‘Saltnes Turn and Beksoem’.
As this is the Nordic World Championship, we have representants from not
only Norway, but also Denmark, Sweden and Finland.


To our traditional Norwegian Baccalao event in Val Di Fiemme, we have
invited the official organisation committee for the championship in Val Di Fiemme.
The committee have been a valuable partner in our planning, especially have
the help from Angelo Corradini (General Secretary) and Giorgio Massignani been important.

Saltnes is a nice place in Raade county, in east-southern Norway.
