Storfjord Hotel is a family owned boutique hotel overlooking Storfjord and the majestic Sunnmøre Alps.

Historie

Perched atop the village of Glomset, the 6 acres of private grounds include small streams and rivers and Storfjord Hotel lies adjacent to thousands of acres of protected forest. Enjoy Norway's fresh mountain air while wild berry picking and wandering through the deer trails and mountain paths.

This rural idyll was constructed using the historic lafta traditions of building traditional Norwegian log cabins. Furnished with antiques and classic Norwegian details, each guest room includes a balcony where guests can gaze out over the fjord and the surrounding mountains. These individually designed guest rooms include a luxury private bathroom and some have four poster beds.

Siri went above and beyond her duties when our taxi cab failed to show up and she drove us herself to the airport, so we could catch our first flight of the day. This is the kind of service that people remember and I want to make sure the hotel management recognizes her efforts. The room, food, views, and facilities are second to none, and I look forward to another stay there in the future!
Pros: The hotel is very beautiful—the aesthetics are great and the location is, as pictured, incredibly beautiful. The amenities are also nice, such as the sauna. Cons: The food is very overpriced for what you get and seemed to be what made my husband sick one night, so we decided to eat in Ålesund for the majority of our meals. The service is a little disorganized and clumsy for such an expensive place, though everyone is very enthusiastic.
Storfjord is a lovely property, though could use some enhancements. The rooms are beautiful, the restaurant is great and staff are very friendly. I do think a 5 star property should have a fitness center. The layout also felt a little misleading to me based on that I saw online. The fjord / water area is a 15 min walk down a path and across a street, not directly where the hotel is. Then when you get down to the water, there isn’t anything there. Feels like a prime place to add some amenities that guests can use, like a fitness center. We also felt that the hotel doesn’t do enough to create a vibe / area to hang out other than a few armchairs outside. The fire pits were never lit while we were there, despite the chilly weather. Restaurant offers the same options each morning and each night, no variety or specials. Overall was a very nice place to stay, but could use a bit more focus on amenities and creating a unique guest experience.
A lovely hotel in a beautiful location - unfortunately the walls are paper thin and hours of screaming children next door drives you mad. Dinner booked for 8, queue for 20 minutes like a school canteen for a table and finally get some food at 9.00, slow and disorganised service. The food is excellent when you get it but I won’t be coming back and as someone who holidays in Norway regularly this is the worst hotel I’ve come across.

I can't recommend this place enough. The location is stunning. The hotel is beautiful. The staff were lovely and every single thing we ate was delicious the portions were good too - not tiny like many fancy restaurants! It's genuinely an unforgettable stay.Rom: 5/5
My husband and I stayed at the Storfjord for two nights last week on our babymoon and I wish we would have stayed a week! We both agreed that our stay was the best hotel stay we have experienced in our lives. I cannot think of enough positive things to say. First, we were upgraded to a junior suite free of charge. Our room had heated floors, a steam shower and tub, and gas fireplace that made it easy to kick back and relax. The service was absolutely next level. We were some of the only people staying at the hotel and were treated like royalty by the staff. We had our own table set for dinner each night and breakfast each morning. The staff knew about where we were from and genuinely seemed interested in connecting with us and sharing their experiences living in Norway. Joseph, who provided dinner service, was particularly engaging. He happened to grow up in the Houston, TX suburbs just like us - which made the world feel very small! I hope to experience this hotel once again in my life, but for now I can only daydream about the great experience we had. Cannot recommend enough. Rom: Spacious, warm, and cozy. Turn down service each night with a hand written weather forecast provided on your nightstand. Have never seen anything like this. Mat og drikke: Chef created custom 3 course dinners both nights. My husband has uncommon food allergies coconut and blue cheese. They created a menu tailored specifically to his needs. Felt very personal.
I traveled with my partner and we had such a great time away from the noise of the city. It’s a great place to disconnect! Amazing personnel, very customer service oriented.Rom: 5/5
