Recently visited at the start of September! Very easy to get to from Stavanger Number 16 bus from the city and it’s well worth the effort. The swords are amazing to see and the view from the bay was nice. I sort of wish I was there in the evening where I understand the swords are lit up, but perhaps that’s for another time. There is a park/small beach which is good to rest in and a small ice cream hut. My only note is that there is nothing around the stones to explain what they are and why they are there. I know we all have Google but even so, something on site would be good. Would definitely visit again!!

We caught the bus here bus stop M, number 16 from Stavanger when our cruise ship was docked. It was easy to find and a lovely location. We were one of the first groups there and I'd definitely recommend arriving early or later in the day as it does get busy! There's a nice fitness park nearby too and a beach.
Easy to spot on your way on the lakeside. If you get there early before the tourist busses arrive, parking will be no problem and it's free. Would be interesting to know about how they stuck the swords in the rock when the monument was constructed. Sverd i fjell was the final touristical destination of my 2024 gumball tour in Norway. By visiting this location as a Norway enthusiast, I was trying to pay my tribute and respect towards the natural beauty, history and the greatness of this nation and the people of Norway.
Easy to get to via public bus from the center of Stavanger. Great views out onto the water. If you want a photo by the swords, have to be patient at busier times as everyone else lines up.
This peaceful and nice spot features a sandy beach and convenient parking. It's also accessible by bus, though be prepared for a 10-20 minute walk from the nearest bus stop. Interessant historie vedr. sverdene. Sverd i fjell er et monument ved Hafrsfjord i Stavanger, Norge. Det ble reist i 1983 til minne om slaget i Hafrsfjord i 872, hvor Harald Hårfagre seiret og samlet Norge til ett rike. Monumentet består av tre store sverd som er støpt i bronse og er plassert i fjellet ved fjorden. Sverdene symboliserer fred, enhet og frihet. Den største sverdet representerer Harald Hårfagre, mens de to mindre sverdene representerer de beseirede kongene. Monumentet er et populært turistmål og en viktig del av norsk kulturarv.
